В режиссерском комментарии к двд-диску "Фитцкарральдо" Герцог рассказывает, как во время съемок в Перу Кински настолько всех заебал, что вождь местного индейского племени предложил свои услуги в случае, если Герцог захочет избавиться от сумасшедшего Клауса. Герцог отказался, сказав, что Кински ему пока еще нужен. Не прошло и двух минут, как он пожалел о сказаном. И то: если туземный вождь вам чего предлагает, сто раз подумайте, прежде чем отказываться. А ну как понадобится?

(Я, кстати, подозреваю, что "Агирре", все-ж таки, лучше, чем "Фитцкарральдо". Хотя типаж полковника Курца тоже изрядно надоел.)

Cut off from all but fragments of the ancient tradition, European scholars could not even understand the elementary texts which they still possessed. One of Fulbert's most famous pupils, Reginbald of Cologne, found a remark in Boethius which neither he nor Ralph of Liege could make out. It referred to the elementary theorem in Euclid, that 'the interior angles of a triangle are equal to two right angles'. Neither of these men, who were among the leading scholars of Western Europe, had heard of the theorem before or even knew what the phrase 'interior angles of a triangle' meant. Their guesses were wide off the mark: Reginbald, for instance, thought it meant 'the right angles on either side of a perpendicular dropped from the apex of a triangle to the base'. In rebuilding the scientific tradition after A.D. 1000, therefore, men in Western Europe had in effect to start from scratch.
