Я нахожу это упражнением легким и неубедительным. Да и забыл он про пиры Вальтасара, про осла Санчо Пансы, про героиню по имени Мария. Ну и римские катапульты типа Осел могли бы сгодиться. Ох, семипядейволбуобормотика.

Брессон, между прочим, вращался в кругу мистиков-католиков, вдохновленных неотомизмом Жака Маритена. Так что он вполне мог иметь в виду именно asinitas.

А почему 'ослы' на латыни не то же самое, что ослы на других языках?

Что ты имеешь в виду? Ass, Esel, âne и т.д. Или ты имеешь в виду, что в английском asininity дурное качество, а не благородное?

Это ты употребил asinitas, словно это означает что-то большее, чем ослы. (Вполне может быть, потому что я не нашел этого слова в словарях. Но в одном месте, сказано, что самыми частыми соседями этого слова в лат. текстах являются верблюды, быки, коровы, трупы. Я заключил, что ослы. Но может быть это были волхвы?)

Погоди, asinitas это собирательное существительное, обозначающее качества осла, перечисленные в вышеприведенной "цытате" из чернокнижника Агриппы Неттесгеймского и должным образом абстрагированные. Еще чернокнижник говорит, что невозможно постичь христианскую доктрину, не обладая asinitas -- иначе презренный разум мешать будет. От asinitas пошло английское asininity и прилагательное asinine, но смысл поменялся на противоположный.
