I think these days they issue statements. Where does that put them class-wise?

The issuing of statements cuts across class boundaries, as it is done by politicians and corporate executives. I guess, this goes well with the undestanding that terrorists today picture themselves as actors in the area of international politics.

Well, the book does have a quaint, anachronistic feel to it. Although because the book was written during the triumphant reign of Reagan, the author's fear of "prole drift" was not that unjustified.
