Специально по случаю недавнего обращения Буша к стране, замечательная цитатка из фильма "Третий человек" по Грэму Грину. Голосом Орсона Уэллса:

In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.

Именно так, и никак иначе. Швейцария не пройдёт.

Да, действительно, часы с кукушкой изобрёл немец Франц Кеттерер в начале 18-го века (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuckoo_clock), но цитатка всё равно замечательная.
