А вот кто гений-то: Артур Ли.
Oh, the snot has caked against my pants
It has turned into crystal
There's a bluebird sitting on a branch
I guess I'll take my pistol
I've got it in my hand
Because he's on my land

And so the story ended
Do you know it oh so well
Well should you need I'll tell you
The end-end-end-end-end-end-end-end
And...

Yes I've seen you sitting on the couch
I recognize your artillery
I have seen you many times before
Once when I was an Indian
And I was on my land
Why can't you understand

Served my time
Served it well
You made my soul
A cell

Write the rules
In the sky
But ask your leaders
Why
Why
Робин Хичкок, тоже гениальный, даже написал специальную песню про Артура Ли:
The Wreck Of The Arthur Lee

The wreck of the Arthur Lee
Will never return again

The captain and all his men
Went up and jumped overboard
"Jesus is Lord" they cried

Believe in love!
Believe in love
And I'll believe in you

The missing Avenger planes
Will never return to base
-- don't you wait up for them

How often have you boys said
"I ain't gonna bump no more?"
"We ain't gonna bump no more"

Believe in love! Believe in love!
And I'll believe if you'll believe in me
I got hom
There was nobody there
Just the phone
Let it ring in the air
But it's home

The wreck of the Arthur Lee
Will never return again
Never return again

The funny thing is that I saw Love live a couple of weeks ago. Arhtur Lee was fronting the band. Everyone in the band except him and one gutarist was a youngster and it added a new and highly enjoyable dimension to the music. The played songs mostly from Forever Changes and sounded as contemporary as ever. There were no strings or trumpets just fashionably sounding distorted guitars. Strange crowd of hipsters and old hippies was raving. Arthur Lee is a genious.

Yes, this reincarnation of Love is quite interesting. I almost went to see them in Chicago, I believe, last summer. I still regret not having gone.

As for them sounding "as contemporary as ever", I'd rather like to think that they were way ahead of their time in 1960's.
